Sunday, 27th August

Most participants arrived in the morning. We went to the hostel and ate picnic near Surrey Water. Everyone was very tired so we decided to stay in the rooms and rest. Nourelise and Albert arrived just on time for dinner.

Afterwards, we went to the park for our first evening together. We learned each other’s first name, talked about the week and wrote our common agreements. Standing in the park, we were lucky enough to see two foxes passing by ! Then we went home, sat for an evening fikka and went to bed.

Monday, 28th August

This morning, after breakfast and forum, we went up Stave Hill. At the top of the hill we studied a model of our neighbourhood in 1970, to compare its general structure before 1970 and today.

After that, we went to see a pond which was enlarged lat week by the participants. The puddled clay and put it on the sides of the pond to make it waterproof. Then we walked in the forest and identified different man-made « stones » such as bricks, tiles, etc.

After that, some of us bought lunch and we had a good snack. Next, we took the bus to go shopping in Greenwich. At 16:30 serious thinks begun. We were given challenges : we had to talk to people on street and ask for an autograph, then for their favourite names for a baby boy or a baby girl. Everyone succeded.

Once it was over we took the bus and went back home. After dinner (we had pasta) we played 123 bottle. Then we did our chores (create a poster for the words of the day, wash the dishes...) and went fox-sighting. At 9:45 it was time to go to sleep. Bye bye !

Tuesday, 29th July}

This morning, we started the day with a game : 1, 2, 3, bottle to wake up. Then we took the Tube to Canary Wharf.

In Canary Wharf, there is a museum about Docklands. We learned some useful words to visit the museum, such as « dock », « warehouse », « crane », « wharf », « slavery », « trade ». So we visited it. It was very interesting and now, we know more about Dockland’s history.

Then we took again the Tube again. It was already 2 pm when we arrived at Canada Water, so we bought Asian street food and ate near the underground station.

Soon after that we went at the hostel in order to have a nap until 6 pm. Then we ate dinner and left the hostel to do the evening activities. We told each other our best moment of the day. Then we did the words of the day.

Finally we made our first surveys of the week. People were mostly nice even if some of them were smoking weed (!). We are now going to play a board game about foxes and go to sleep.

Wednesday, 30th July

This morning we played « one two three bottle », then we did the forum where everybody can say how was his night, food and his activities. Then we did an activity to better understand what an ecosystem is.

For lunch we bought « meal deals » in a supermarket : a main, a snack and a drink. We ate in Canada Water park where we saw the water birds and learned their names.

This afternoon we first saw Buckingham Palace, and some people were very strange ! Then we played a game in Leicester Square and Covent Garden : the educators would send us clues, and we would have to find the place. But some of us had a pain in the back and everyone was really tired, so we decided to go home. We were 40 minutes late for dinner because we took the underground in the wrong direction. Then we ate very well ! The meatballs and pasta was very tasty and good.

Some people went for a run and saw two foxes. During our night forum we even saw a fox in the inner courtyard of the hostel : he couldn’t find the way out so we opened the door for him. We gave our words of the day and said what we liked in the day.

See you tomorrow for a new daily log !

Friday, 1st August

This morning we played « one two three bottle », then we did the forum where everybody can say how was their night, if they like the food and the activities. Then we went back to the hostel to finish our transmission projects.

Some of us went shopping and prepared the picnic. We ate at the hostel before taking the Tube to go to Camden Market. There we spent almost two hours shopping (keepsake, ice cream, bracelets… ). A jewelry dealer even offered us four bracelets !!!

At 5 pm we took the Tube to go home. We ate curry and rice, and cake with custard. Then we chilled in our rooms : we needed some rest before presenting our activities to the public of the hostel !

Several persons visited us and tried the activities : a memory about foxes, two quizzes also about foxes, a poster about the evolution of the neighbourhood (from docklands to housing), a quizz about artificial stones we found in the park.

It was a long but nice day and we all loved going shopping and presenting the activities !
